Horizontal Wall Mount Mailboxes

Prior to USPS mailbox regulation changes in 2006, horizontal mailboxes were the standard for many large multifamily residential and business mail delivery applications. However, these time-tested mailboxes are not USPS approved for new installations. The USPS requires properties upgrade to current standards when any remodel or renovation occurs to the property. Any remodel big or small should drive an upgrade to CBU or 4C mailboxes. Horizontal mailboxes are still an excellent mailbox solution for any private delivery installation such as university dorms, internal business office distribution, or a myriad of other private applications.

1400 Series STD-4B+ Horizontal Mailboxes
An indoor mailroom staple for decades, these horizontal mailboxes are approved by USPS if they are a direct one-to-one replacement for apartment communities where the U.S. Postal Service is delivering the mail. Horizontal mailboxes may be used in any private delivery application such as university or for military mail distribution. All new construction or renovation projects require USPS Approved STD-4C mailboxes.
1600 Series Front-Loading Horizontal Mailboxes
A favorite of University housing managers, this indoor solution helps keep your mail area organized. Available in front-loading (1600 series) or rear-loading (1700 series) units, each module provides a lot of compartments in a small space. Since these are private delivery mailboxes, they are not constrained by postal installation regulations and therefore have no minimum or maximum mounting height requirements.
1700 Series Rear-Loading Horizontal Mailboxes
A favorite of University housing managers, this indoor only solution helps keep your mail area organized. Used for private delivery, there are no minimum or maximum mounting height requirements since they are not constrained by postal installation regulations. The 1700 series has an exposed back for easy distribution access to all mailbox compartments at once, so planning for additional space will be necessary to accommodate a secure room behind the mailbox installation.
